Over the centuries, waves of muslim invasions were accompanied by massive massacres of Hindus. Each and every general, king, emperor left written records of how many Hindus he killed, enslaved or converted. They made hills of skulls and mounds of janoi (sacred thread) they took from those they killed. Hindu women commit sati not out of some religious fad, but as the only sure way to escape dishonourable life as the sex slave of muslim invaders.
Reading the extent of the brutal suffering of Hindus under muslim rule makes one weep. Jizya tax had to be paid by Hindus ; they had to live under sharia law which gave greater rights to muslims ; Hindu temples were razed on a regular basis and mosques created with rubble salvaged from Hindu temples ; Hindu man, woman or child could be enslaved and sold off for most minor offence ; rape and abduction by muslims were routinely ignored ; Hindu lands and property could be arbitrarily seized for any number of reasons.
Holocaust of Hindus lasted 1000 years - 800 years under muslims and 200 year under christian kings, despots and dictators. Hindu phyche is so brutalised, most do not want to acknowledge the damage and destruction that stares them in the face. They accept the damaged temples, destroyed libraries, discriminatory practises in society, loss of culture as part and parcel of life.
There are many people who deny the history of massacres and cultural destruction that has wreaked havoc across India. These people demand EVIDENCE of massacres. They want to see the hills of skulls for themselves and maybe photographic evidence of rows of Hindu slaves being carted off to Afghanistan. What they fail to realise is that they are denying what the muslims have gloated for years and continue to gloat even now in Pakistan. They refuse to accept evidence recorded in Hindu sects about the murders and loot they suffered. They refuse to see the evidence of ruined temples, mosques built with the rubble of Hindu temples demolished to create a grotesque display of invaders' power over the populace. They refuse to believe Hindus records of how they have been suppressed for hundreds of years. They refuse because they want to deny the suffering of Hindus.
If anyone wants to understand how the Hindus were brutalised, they should read the accounts of how the Yazidis have suffered under ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Same rape, loot, slavery, forced conversions, destruction of sacred spaces have been visited on them by ISIS in modern times.
